A NEW MULTI-MEDIA LIBRARY AT ANNA RODIER HIGH SCHOOL, MOULINS, FRANCE…

A new school media library in Moulins, France

More dedicated spaces aligned with the new digital age and the ability to accommodate various projects were exactly what Anna Rodier High School were looking for in their new school media library. Using the Everna™ range, the new space has been designed to incorporate various clearly defined and dedicated areas.

Dedicated zones

To meet their needs, WF Education designed the entire media library with the Everna™ range. With various modules for book browsing, study, and presentation, the system was able to successfully meet the school’s requirements. Using one clever solution, we created different zones for: reading, individual study, collaborative work, and relaxation, etc.

“The dedicated zones separate the library in a great way so that some areas are free from disruption.”

According to Gisèle Cottel, the school’s librarian, the library had become a place that could no longer be considered a space and was instead just shelves with books on. She knew change was needed and wanted dedicated zones so the library could benefit a wider variety of users and activities.

Students at Anna Rodier High School come from vocational programs and often use digital tools for their projects. For example, having a circular space around the digital whiteboard used by the teacher was considered necessary to enhance collaboration.

“We call our new space a media library because it allows students access to all types of media. We wanted to develop digital resources with our numberous computers and 3D printer.”

– Gisèle Cottel, School Librarian

Collaborative work contributes much to academic success. By working together, students can discuss their ideas, share different perspectives, and combine their thoughts. Group projects are a big part of how students work at Anna Rodier’s.

Group work allows for the development of social skills and promotes interactions among students, as well as teachers and students. Having a pleasant environment where it is possible to gather around a table with others was essential for the teaching staff.

The modern elements in the new space, including dynamic seating, initially raised questions among the new users. However, once they were used, the OneLeg® stools quickly won over both students and teachers thanks to their comfort and ability to change position.

“We implement many group projects throughout the year, involving multiple classes. The idea is to always create, to produce, as part of an educational project related to their training…”
